Para falarmos a posição de algo em relação a outra coisa usamos preposições:
– “In” quando algo está dentro:
People in Washington like to work out!
In the lake.
She’s in the garden.
– “Across/Opposite” quando algo está do outro lado:
The gym is across from the lounge.
We live on opposite sides of the city.
They sat at opposite ends of the table.
I was walking across the road.
– “Next/Near” quando algo está próximo:
It’s next to the mailroom.
Come and sit next to me.
– “Behind” quando algo está atrás:
It is behind the lobby.
The warehouse is behind the store.
– “Front” quando algo está na frente:
It was in front of me this whole time.
The car in front stopped.
– “At” para especificarmos locais exatos:
You are studying at your desk.
She was sitting at the table.
– “On” para posicionar algo em linha, acima, anexado a outra coisa:
I love reading on trains.
The books are on the table.
The picture is on the wall.
There’s a spider on the floor.
The bar is on main street.
– “Between” quando algo está no meio de outras coisas:
Our house is between the mountains and the sea.
It was hard to choose between vanilla and chocolate.
It costs between 15 and 20 dollars.
– “Under/bellow” quando algo está abaixo:
The cat is under the table.
His shoes were under his bed.
I can hear people shouting below my window.
